SUPPORT THE PEACE RESOURCE CENTER IN SEASIDE!
Go to www.PeaceCentral.org and scroll to the bottom of the homepage. There you will find a PayPal button to make donating easy. You can also send checks written to "MPJC" to P.O. Box 1851, Monterey CA 93942. (The Peace Resource Center is a project of the Monterey Peace and Justice Center.)
Many organizations in the PCMC depend upon the Peace Resource Center as a place to hold meetings and events, to coordinate activities and efforts, for access to resources such as computer internet connection and printing, sign-making, and the free exchange of ideas with people from other organizations.
The Peace Resource Center also hosts free classes for adults who want to learn English. Due to cutbacks in adult education funds at MPC and elsewhere, this PRC program is filling a vital need in our community. But without your support, the Peace Resource Center will cease to exist. Please be a generous as you can!
The Peace Coalition of Monterey County is a collection of local organizations working together on progressive causes and supporting each other’s efforts in the pursuit of a more peaceful world. Some of these organizations are home-grown, while others are the local branches of statewide, national, or international organizations. You can see the full list of PCMC member organizations under "members" on this website.
Every other month the PCMC holds a Community Meeting where the public is invited to hear a speaker on some interesting topic and to participate in discussion. The public is also welcome to participate in PCMC-sponsored events and activities.
The PCMC Steering Committee, however, deals only with issues brought to it by representatives of PCMC member organizations. If you have an issue or action you would like to present to the coalition, or add to this website's month-at-a-glance calendar, we ask that you first take it to one of the PCMC member organizations for endorsement or sponsorship. That organization's PCMC representative can post the item on the calendar for you. You have twenty-one organizations to choose from!
A good place to start is at the Peace Resource Center, at 1364 Fremont Blvd in Seaside. The Peace Resource Center hosts frequent pot-luck get-togethers, educational events, and study groups where you can get acquainted with our local peace community. For information, call 899-PEACE (899-7322) or visit their website at www.PeaceCentral.org.
We encourage you to find your niche in the peace community. Whether you have a lot of time to give, or only a little, we hope you will join us in the belief that a better world is possible.
