Friday, August 6, marks the 65th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima. 65 Years After Hiroshima: It's Time to RETIRE the Bomb All who cherish peace and justice are invited to come to Livermore Lab for a solemn remembrance of the past, and a joyous rededication to the task of achieving a nuclear weapons-free future for all.
8 am, RALLY at Livermore Nuclear Weapons lab. Meet at Vasco Rd. and Patterson Pass Rd., Livermore. Program includes keynote speaker NORMAN SOLOMON, spoken word artist KAYLAY MARIN, musician DANIEL ZWICKEL, TAIKO DRUMMING, and more.
9 am, MARCH and nonviolent direct action. Following the rally, there will be a short march to the Lab's west gate where those who choose may nonviolently risk arrest.
Livermore Lab is one of two sites that has developed every nuclear weapon in the U.S. arsenal. Today, its nuclear weapons budget is increasing and its research on new and modified nuclear bombs is continuing.
